What Vitamins
Are Good For Hair Growth
If you need to know what vitamins
are good for hair growth, read on. This article
offers some great information on how hair growth vitamins
can help you retain shiny, healthy hair.
It's in the news nearly all the time.
People worldwide are desperate to know if taking vitamins
for hair loss can really work to retain hair. Vitamins
certainly play an important role, along with
lifestyle.
Stress and a bad diet, along with chemical
hair treatments and robust hair management, can all
affect whether your hair will be vibrant and healthy, or
dull, and residing in the bottom of the bath or
shower.
Before we start discussing what
vitamins are good for hair growth, it's important to
say that diet has a marked effect on your health,
including your hair. For healthy hair to grow well, there
is a requirement to get a wide range of vitamins,
minerals, amino acids and fats to promote healthy hair
growth.
Vitamins are vitamins, whether you get them
from a healthy balanced diet, or out of a bottle. But
which are the best vitamins for promoting hair
growth?
Vitamin C Is
One Of The Essential Hair Growth
Vitamins
Vitamin C is a well known vitamin, found in
a range of foodstuffs including citrus fruits,
strawberries, tomatoes and many green vegetables. As well
as being a good preventer of colds, it's also a vitamin
good for hair growth. Also available over the counter as
a supplement or in many hair growth products.
B Vitamins - Essential For Healthy
Hair And Scalp
Quite a few of the B vitamins are used in
healthy hair products. Look for them in whole grain
products and fresh fruit. Most unprocessed whole foods
contain a good supply of B vitamins. Also found in
potatoes, lentils, beans, brewers yeast and molasses.
These great vitamins enhance the nervous system, promote
cell growth and division as well as promoting healthy
hair. Luckily, most Americans get a good supply of B
vitamins through their normal diet. These are the ones
that are particularly relevant as useful vitamins for
hair loss.
- Niacin - B3 - Is a good promoter of
circulation to your scalp. It's found in offal like
liver and kidney, chicken, beef, avocados, tomatoes
and nuts, as well as a wide range of other
foods.
- Biotin is a water soluble B-complex
vitamin called B7. Considered essential for cell
growth and the production of fatty acids, Biotin is
frequently recommended for strengthening both hair
and nails. It's important to remember that it must be
taken internally, as it cannot be absorbed through
the skin or hair directly. Luckily, you can find it
in raw egg yolks, peanuts, and a range of vegetable.
A deficiency in Biotin has hair loss (alopecia) as of
the symptoms.
- Pantothenic acid (B5), also known as
Pantothenate, is a water soluble vitamin that is an
essential vitamin for many animals. The name cones
from the Greek pantothen, which means
'everywhere'. Not surprisingly, it's found in most
foods, but whole grain cereals, eggs, meant, avocado
and yoghurt hold high quantities of B5. In relation
to hair, trials on mice did show that a B5 deficiency
caused skin irritation and affected hair color. Human
tests showed no benefit to humans. So don't
necessarily believe the hype that this one is one of
the essential vitamins good for hair
growth.
- Inositol, contrary to much of the
information you read, is no longer classed as an
essential vitamin and is no longer a member of the
vitamin B complex¹. This is because it is naturally
produced by the human body from glucose. It is also
found in a range of foods like fruit, beans, nuts,
and grains.
All the B vitamins are essential for good
health, but the ones listed above are closely linked with
hair health, as are B6 and B12. For more information on
the sources of B vitamins,
